In mid-April 1999 I spent 10 days exploring desert canyons of northeast Arizona and southeast Utah, looking for Anasazi ruins. The time of year was ideal, with evening temperatures no lower than 26F, daytime temperatures ranging from 60 to 80. Every day was sunny but the last as I drove back to Colorado Springs. The sun, the rock, the flora, and the presence of the "ancient ones" made for a mystical experience. I look forward to my return.

I returned in 2000, this time with my daughter Natalie, to explore Fish, Owl, and Road Canyons.
